My bucket list has another check mark. Working with Craig Brewer.Yes! (Hopefully it will happen again and even in a greater capacity).
When I heard Footloose was coming to town I was over the moon excited! After being submitted, considered and called back for a pretty large role in this huge remake I felt undoubtedly blessed.
Number one to have relocated to a city that at the time I had no idea would be in my acting career's best interest, number two to already be a dancer, and last but certainly not least, to have an amazing acting agent that got me in the door with Paramount's incredible production.
The large role didn't work out, but my dance agent pulled through with a direct booking for the opening scenes. Pure excitement! Thinking my chance had passed to work with Brewer, I suddenly had a smile from ear to ear. Jamal Sims choreographed and it is always a pleasure to work with him and Draico. What a great group of people! After being an actor for several years, this film finally helped me secure my SAG eligibility -insert other checkmark here. :)
I have been following Craig's work for years. Many die hard fans of the original had reservations about this film being remade. Yes, Kevin Bacon is Kevin Bacon and the original is the original, but the decision to bring on Craig Brewer to direct this was genius. This is the guy that brought us Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan, my all time favorite and greatly missed show, Terriers, and so many more wonderful works of art.
We could have already predicted that this Footloose would not be your cookie cutter, musical style, poorly done remake leaving you feeling useless and having wasted your time when leaving the theater. Brewer adds just enough edge and spunk to make the new generation appreciate the story all the while making the original fans fall in love with it in a whole new way.
I am grateful to have worked on this set, you can look for me in the opening scenes, my dancin' stompin' cowgirl boots are featured in the opening solo pieces in two segments, you can also catch me dancing away in the most adorable overall shorts I have ever laid eyes on (still looking for that perfect pair of those to rock in the summertime here in Georgia!).
Enjoy a few of the photos, I hope you all had the opportunity to see it on the big screen. If you didn't then do go and grab a copy of it on DVD out now!
Thank you for your support and thank you to both of my agents, Jamal Sims, Draico, and especially Craig Brewer.
Hi all!
Here are a few stills from the recent Feature Film I was cast as the lead in, Before Dawn.
I can now safely say..I do my own stunts. hee hee :) These stills are from the scene where my character releases some pretty intense stress by spinning fire with the beautiful performance art of Poi. The sunset at this location was unreal.
Unfortunately, I can't divulge too many more details than that just yet, but I am very excited to be a part of this new horror film.
I will release more details as we get closer :)
One word. Chickens.
Live chickens on set. :) These little guys were so cute! I was able to hold one of them inbetween my scenes, it gave me a nice present. Luckily I pulled away just in time to avoid being slimed, but it was definitely a "southern" kind of day.
South of Southern was a blast to film. This southern comedy centers around total dysfunction with my character's engagement and the past that comes back to haunt her and her family. I had the honor of playing the role of Hollis Honeycutt. This role was not too far fetched since I was lucky enough to be raised by two Tennesseans (Father from Chattanooga and Mother raised in Mountain City but born in Kentucky). The cast fit together effortlessly and the chemistry was amazing between all.
Ava Leigh Stewart had a clear and exact idea of how things were going to run. Our on set experience was nothing but the best. Drew Stewart was incredible to work with and we talked over things extensively to reach the ultimate performance for each character.
Very thankful to be a part of this film! It will be submitted to several festivals Nationwide. I will make sure to post as we receive acceptance.
Thanks Ya'll! :)
A few stills from the recent film by Bret Wood entitled The Little Death.
My favorite Atlanta producer Linda Burns called me to audition for this lovely film and I was so happy to work with such a talented group of people! Bret Wood has incredible unique ideas and this was an out of the box performance for me. I love challenges and the obstacles this role presented were so fun (although challenging) to overcome. Here are a few stills to check out as well as the movie poster.
Hi World!
Very excited to catch my new blog up. I recently moved my site and will be updating a few older posts from my previous website. My old site was dreadful to update on the go, so with my new set up I can keep everyone a little more up to date on what I have cooking. :)
Atlanta has been so good to me and I hope you enjoy reading my journey through film.
I truly appreciate your support!
